The Nutcracker is a delightful tale loosely adapted from E.T.A Hoffman’s original story, “Nutcracker and Mouse King.” On Christmas Eve, a little girl named Marie, falls asleep aftera party at her home and dreams herself into a fantastic world where toys become larger than life. Her beloved Nutcracker comes to life and defends her from the Mouse King, thenis turned into a Prince after Marie saves his life. The Nutcracker Prince takes Marie to the Kingdom of Snow, where she is dazzled by Snow Fairies. Next, Marie enters the Land ofSweets where she is introduced to the Sugar Plum Fairy and entertained by all the “Sweets.” As the enchanting festivities draw to an end, Marie returns home and awakens the next day to find herself and her beloved Nutcracker back in her own familiar bed.
Dance Battle Extravaganza unites the talent of a professional jazz dance company with over 100 community members ready to "dance it out" in a family-friendly battle to support the art of dance in Owensboro, KY. This "don't miss" show features the athleticism and excitement of a professional jazz dance company with a second act filled with community groups ready to take the stage for your vote and the votes of guest judges.
In Concert’s Act I begins with pieces from professional guest artist choreographers utilizing a variety of dance styles performed by Owensboro Dance Theatre’s company members. In Act II, adventure abounds when we take to the sky on a magic carpet ride. ODT and ZFX Flying Effects will fly and uncover the secrets of a mysterious land. The moving digital backdrops, will take the audience to a whole new world. In Concert featuring Aladdin… Secrets of The Magic Carpet, is an explosion of familiar and new songs, energetic dancing, and imaginative costumes. This performance will feature your students, classmates, friends and professional dancers! The sands of time shall reveal a story for the ages. Join us for amazing adventure.
