Dance Ambassadors places current internationally known professional dancers and choreographers in schools, community centers, and corporations.  Programs include lecture/demonstrations, nutrition information, career talks, in addition to master classes at the home school.

MARCUS R. ALFORD - born in Tripoli, Libya, landed at the University of Alabama where he earned a B.A.  He choreographed, taught, danced, and toured with Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago for a decade.  Marcus choreographed the Telly Award winner “The Customer Is King”, is on the International Artistic Committee of Dance and International Dance Network, Bonn, West Germany and is author of “Jazz Danceology”.  Marcus currently directs “Jazz Dance Theatre South” and is the Artistic Director of “Jazz on Tap and BalletFest”.  He and his wife, Annie Day, direct Dancentre South in Metro Atlanta.

Annie Day, an exciting teacher, choreographer and adjudicator, makes her home in suburban

Atlanta, Georgia where she is Owner/Artistic Director of Dancentre South, Inc with her husband, dancer Marcus R. Alford. Ms. Day graduated with honors from Butler University, Indianapolis, Indiana earning a B.A. degree in Dance. As a performer, Ms. Day’s highlights include performing throughout the U.S. and Germany with Jazz Dance Theatre South, working with jazz great Gus Giordano and industrials for clients including Adidas, Milliken Carpets, Herbalife International and Carpet One.

DEVIN BUCHANAN - began studying dance at Pinnell Dance Centre in Gahanna, OH.  While studying at Pinnell, he had an excellent education in many styles of dance such as ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, and became inspired to choreograph.  After high school, Devin was accepted into the certificate program at The Ailey School.  Devin graduated from the Alvin Ailey certificate program in May 2010 and was accepted into a project called “Fraulein Maria” giving him the chance to tour the USA.  Devin then auditioned for Giordano Dance Chicago and was given an opportunity to grow with Giordano II.  Devin was accepted into the main company and is now in his second season with Giordano Dance Chicago as well as his second international tour in Germany. 

JOSHUA BLAKE CARTER (Atlanta, GA) received his early dance training from the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts in Mableton, GA.  He continued his studies at the University of Arizona where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Cum Laude as well as the Outstanding Senior Award from the School of Dance.  While living in Arizona, Joshua founded dance in the RED – an evening of dance, music and art to benefit the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation.  Continuing to pursue an interest in choreography, Joshua’s work was accepted as a finalist in the Dance Under the Stars Choreography Festival in Palm Desert, CA in 2008.  The following year, he won Ballet Nouveau Colorado’s national choreography competition, Dancemakers2.0.  Joshua has since been commissioned to choreograph a second work for Ballet Nouveau Colorado, as well as Artifact Dance Project and Missouri Contemporary Ballet.  Joshua is currently dancing his third season with Giordano Dance Chicago and is on faculty at Trilogy School of Performing Arts in Lake Zurich, Illinois.

JORDAN KEYON SMITH is pleased to be appearing in Owensboro Dance Theatre’s production of In Concert.  Jordan is a triple threat with a background in dance, theater and music.  He is an award-winning choreographer who has been a favorite on staff of Jazz on Tap On Tour, Joel Ruminer’s Dance Camps, Jazz On Tap, and the Southern Association of Dance Masters.  Jordan has also been a guest teacher at Kennesaw State University.  He has performed as a guest artist with Dancentre South Company, Owensboro Dance Theatre, Shawnee Ballet Theatre and First Floor Tanz in Hagen, Germany.  Within the past year, his choreography has been showcased at Walt Disney World and Panoply Arts Festival.  Most recently, he had the opportunity to work with Emmy Award winning choreographer, Tyce Diorio, when featured on Lifetime, “Drop Dead Diva”.  Jordan currently teaches for Dancentre South in Woodstock, Georgia.

Jon Lehrer, featured on the November 2007 cover of Dance Teacher magazine, has danced with Erick Hawkins Dance Company, John Passafuiume Dancers, for Merv Griffin in Atlantic City, and in the Ra-dio City Christmas Spectacular. A former dancer and faculty member for Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and the Giordano Dance Center, he founded LehrerDance (Buffalo, NY). He has been on the faculty of the Jazz Dance World Congress, Dance Masters of America, Dance Teacher Summer Conference, Chicago National Association of Dance Masters, Chicago Dance Connection, Chautauqua Institution and is a frequent guest artist at colleges around the country. In 2003, Jon had the honor of receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University at Buffalo’s Zodiaque Dance Company for his accomplish-ments as a dancer and choreographer. Jon is on the Advisory Board of Dance Spirit Magazine and was featured on the November 2007 cov-er of Dance Teacher Magazine.
